Why My Wine Glass is Better than Yours
Let me give you the best Valentine’s Gift you could ever hope for in your relationship….(no, it’s not a Tiffany necklace! Read on)
Years ago, when my kids were littles, I had ZERO drive. Not the “ambition” type of drive — I think that was ok…. I’m talking about the (ahem) bedroom drive. zero. zilch. nada. Ok, maybe not nada — but a drastic reduction in being able to feel whole and functioning.
I loved my husband…..I wanted to be with my husband…. and so you could say I was NOT ok with this lack of “drive”.
It was right about this time that Oprah did a show on Testosterone cream or testosterone injections and so I immediately called my OB/Gyn and confided tearfully that even though I was happy with my life, my husband, my kids….I would rather sleep than play Barry White. I was mortified even talking about it. Sex was not something we talked about growing up — or celebrated. It was private….maybe shameful? I don’t know where I picked that up but thankfully I’m over that now.
My Dr. did blood work and sure enough, my T-levels were “extremely low”. I immediately thought about how so many break ups could be the result of this type of hormonal imbalance — do we mistake lack of drive for lack of love? (think about that!) I remember calling my closest girlfriends and telling them all to get their blood checked too. (misery loves company, right? I think
I was “reaching” out to make sure I wasn’t the only person affected by this lack of desire.)
So my Dr. ordered up monthly T-Shots. Hard to say if they did any good — I think I felt a boost in “something” for about a day and then the rest of the month felt the same. The real problem was probably the lack of sleep and exhaustion from running after two toddlers who were 21 months apart. (I swear I don’t remember any part of the first year of my youngest — Andrew has to literally fill in major events that happened that year!! Do not judge me!)
I was only on the T-shots for a short period of time before feeling like I needed to change Doctors. I can’t remember why but I listen to my gut and so I switched. My new doctor told me I was crazy for taking T-shots — that they would increase my chance of heart disease and some other stuff so the T-therapy came to a quick and abrupt halt.
In my layman’s opinion, drive and desire are completely taken for granted when we are young. Those magical hormones that excite the body are often depleted as we run after little munkins and try to sustain our bodies on left over cheerios and applesauce. What do we think will happen to our bodies when they are run ragged? Looking back, all I can think is, “duh!”
BUT! I bring you good news, girlfriend. I have found the holy grail of help.
Do you see this little wine glass?
There’s no wine but there is a fantastic little ingredient (among many others) called Maca Root. Maca root is a safe, yet potent, superfood. Indigenous people of the Andes have consumed maca root for centuries. While considered a root vegetable and food staple in the Andean, we have only recently discovered this ancient herb and the many benefits it may provide for women. Sexual health, improving fertility, and combating the effects of menopause are just a few benefits of this spectacular herb.
Do I have your attention?
I’ve been using Maca as a part of my daily dose of dense super food for the last 4 and 1/2 years and yes, I notice a difference. It’s not dramatic like I’ve gone from zero to crazy but my body doesn’t prefer sleep over sex anymore. I would call that winning big time.
Turns out maca root has a centuries-long reputation for being a powerful aphrodisiac….loaded with zinc, iodine, essential fatty acids…. it may balance sex hormones and improve mood….which makes (ahem) arousal (desire) much easier to achieve.
Swap what’s in your wine glass.
I know your tricks. I’ve done them too. A glass of wine to help “get in the mood” — Alcohol is a depressant, and using it heavily can dampen the mood, decrease desire and may even cause other problems. I’m thankful to say I don’t need a glass of wine to get in the mood anymore — I’ve got my maca and best of all, it comes in a daily chocolate shake that satisfies my chocolate cravings too.
So there you have it — that’s my story and I’m sticking to it because it’s been a game changer for me.
Good news, this powerful maca root + 70 other amazing superfoods wellness shake is a part of all my 30-day challenge groups. When I say you will be bringing sexy back, I’m not just referring to the Justin Timberlake song.
